four months flew by

ok. so ive realized that it has been about 4 months since ive really updated the blog. here is a rundown of the last four months of our lives:
- evelynn was born july 27th- spent the better part of august and september waking up in the middle of the night to feed the baby and being sleep deprived
- in august we started to get random smiles from evelynn and she met her great-grandma- evelynn started to smile in response to silly things in september- i took evelynn on her first plane ride in october out to so cal for her uncles 20th birthday.
- first week of october evelynn started sleeping through the night which meant i was a happy, well a happier mom!
- evelynn was a hot dog for halloween thanks to her grammy martha
- we traded in the truck for a chevy impala...a more family-friendly car
- evelynn had her first play-date with her friend lucy who is 2 weeks older than evelynn
- we took evelynn on her first roadtrip to so cal for thanksgiving (thats a whole other post!)
that brings us up to date for the most part! im going to try and do better to keep this updated.

mendonsa...party of three!

ok ok! i know its been almost two weeks since evelynn graced us with her presence, but better late than never right!? :] so here is a little story about our day...

so i didnt want to go to church for fear of having to answer the question of why evelynn was still in my belly. so steven went without me. when i got out of bed and was letting towbie out, i experienced something like my water breaking, but only a little bubble. so i paid attention to what was going on and told steven to call in between services. he eneded up coming home for fear that it was TIME. we hung out at the house for a couple hours just waiting. pains were getting a little more constant but not worse. so we got our stuff together and headed to the hospital at around 2pm, calling my mom and sister on the way to tell them we were a go.

we pulled up to the hospital and it felt weird. when the lady asked if she could help us, i was like "i think its time to have my baby." kind of awkward... so they put me in a "flashy" hospital gown and in a bed. they hooked me up to the heart and contraction monitors. then they did a test to see if it was actually my water that had broke...indeed it was! so at that point we were admitted.

my whole plan was to have the baby naturally, but not be discouraged if i ended up with an epidural. i lasted until 10:30pm. i realized id be too tired to get her out. so i gave in to my fear. once i had the epidural i was GOOD! :] i was able to relax and get some sleep...considering it was so late too. my mom, sister, and dad made it in time for the big show!

so after a little pushing and laughing (yes laughing!) our little girl joined the big bad world outside of the bubble...

she was born at 1:56 am, weighed 7 lbs and was 19 1/2 inches long...

evelynn's bedroom

so we finally have all the non-baby stuff out of the room and it's basically set up and ready to go. there are a few minor details missing but i figure she won't care about those things. plus being the non-interior decorator that i am...i'm still wondering what to put on the walls. as long as she has food and a clean diaper she'll be happy. she probably won't even care about clothes since it's blazing hot! :] but nevertheless....here it is. (i wish the curtain was up so i could get the whole picture (and ya'll too!)...oh well.

could this be...

so i googled "tattoo baby" and some funny pictures came up. i was actually looking for a picture to send to a friend whose daughter draws all over herself with marker. but instead i found this...
i had to sit and giggle for a minute and only imagining what we would do if evelynn came out looking like this! Ha... it would be hard to have a child who has cooler tattoos than you. i know steven would be jealous of her ship! funny stuff... only 11 weeks to go until we get to meet evelynn and see her eyes, ears, hair, nose, fingers, toe, everything!!! cant wait to meet her! :]

a first for steven...

so at Christmas my mom put those wash cloth towels that are shaped like something in our stockings (yes we still get stockings!). these ones were shaped like mickey's head and you had to put it under hot water to make it unfold.

steven was going through his stuff and found his. he asked what it was! i was sooo surprised he had never seen or used one of these before. i could not let this go on any more! we grabbed it and went straight to the bathroom. im sure there were more important things to get done, but this had to be dealt with!!! of course as he warmed up the water i grabbed the camera to document this momentous occasion! so here are a few pictures (3 months after Christmas) to show you steven's first towel expanding experience!

1...the towel in its last moments of looking like mickey mouse's head!

2...steven holding it under the water and being ever so patient for the towel to be soft!

3...the stiffness is going away and steven is starting to see the actual towel

4...can you just feel the excitement in his face to see his new towel!! :]

so there you have it. the exciting times of our lives! i have been trying to get this up on here for the longest time. and wah-lah! i got it done! i hope you have had this exciting experience!!

we are alive...all three of us!

let me dust off this blog so i can give the whole handful of you guys an update... even though you probably know it all!

so we are now 20 weeks pregnant (itll be 21 on friday). we found out last friday, 3/6, that we are having a girl. hopefully thatll be confirmed 100% next month! when we went for the ultrasound our little bun in the oven was very active (and i feel none of it!!). she was doing sumersaults and covering her face with her arms. grrr! so when we go back next month the doc is going to do another ultrasound to go over things again and to hopefully check her parts again! :]

i have been trying to be good and not go into the baby section...too much! i havent gotten into too much trouble! im quite proud. i know that this little girl is going to be spoiled rotten by everyone so i probably wont have to do much besides feed her! :]

aside from the baby, our lives are staying busy. steven is working tons of hours right now (thank God) and is raking in the overtime. I try and get lots done on saturdays when he is working. as for me, the school year seemed to pick up and get really busy ten weeks before the school year ended. im wondering how that works. i have received a handful of new students. which means working them into the flow we already had going on, paperwork, and meetings. but they are lots of fun. im also trying to get progress reports done and a 6 page report for my students who are going to kindergarten next year...and have meetings for each of those kids! oh the joys of paperwork, meetings, and business! its been a fun experience though and im going to miss it next year. but ill be able to spend lots of time with our little girl!

pictures will be coming soon...do not worry!
