in need of...

...a new name!
so id really like to give my blog a new name. i've had a few but none of them really set in with me. hmmm... sometimes i think of something and then i think its too "artsy" or something for my blog. any ideas out there???

the silence in being alone

i saw this video on a couple blogs ive been reading. really makes me want to do those things alone that we think are weird to do when youre alone...i really cant remember the last time i was really ALONE. perhaps something to try in the next couple of weeks...

the time is coming

as of today i have been nursing evelynn for a year and 18 days. in the beginning, it was rough! but looking back at the whole thing it has been a wonderful experience. i'm happy i was able to make it a whole year! to be the one who nourishes her and provides for her. and holding her while she eats...i love when her little feet are tucked under my chin. i've loved kissing her little feet and smelling them. weird i know, but shes my baby!
so now that shes a year old and the school year is coming up, i've been thinking that now is the time to ween her. it makes me a little sad, but then happy to know we made it this far and shes a big girl now. so wish me luck and here's to hoping the mama hormones to don't come out too much on that last night!

a few questions...

so i was browsing through some blogs today and i came upon these questions on one of them. i thought it would be fun to answer them and then challenge you [whoever reads this!] to copy them to your blog and answer them. what do you say?!?

1. When do you feel happiest // when i get to spend quality time with steven and evelynn; with all of us smiling, laughing, having a good time

2. How do you take care of yourself // i need to work on this one a little more... i used to get pedicures often, but i cant remember the last time i did that. if i sit and think about it, i guess i really dont have "me" time. i need to think about this one...

3. Are you internally (by yourself) or externally (by others) motivated // i would say im motivated both ways. i love coming up with stuff on my own and then i love being encouraged by others

4. What do you do for fun // hang out with friends. go to shows [when there are good ones in the george]. play just dance with youth kids. work on my art journal.

5. What intimidates you // "grown up" things in life...insurance, retirement, etc. & lots of people talking at the same time. i shut down and put my imaginary hoodie on. :]

6. What is something you're proud of // my family. my ability to work well with the kiddos at work.

7. Finish this sentence. I never _____________ // i never take the top lid when filling my soda cup at the fountain. i never dont have chap-stick on me.

8. Favorite vacation spot // for now its so cal... i want to see so much more!

home sweet home

happily and sadly we are back home in utah. we had a nice long 2-month stay in so cal. and with our long stay was a long hiatus from the blog. i miss my blog! but i dont feel like it much or remember to do it when im not on my own computer with all my pictures. so anyway...we are back and ill be getting caught up. lots to catch up on...life, evelynns first birthday party, and...food!!!! so heres to not procrastinating and wasting time!

the big O-N-E!!

today my little baby turned ONE!!! so crazy to think a year has gone by already. a year ago today i was laying in the hospital mezmorized by little bundle of joy! i was so in love. you can see more pictures and read about the day here.

this past year has been amazing and fun. to watch evelynn grow and learn. she has learned so much in just the last week. i can only imagine what the next couple years will be like. oh my! we have been looking forward to her first birthday since the day she was born! we celebrated her birthday with a little trip to the beach. she loves the sand and the water. she spent some time in the water with her dad. at first we only put her feet in and decided to put her wetsuit on and let her get a little more wet. the whole time changing her she was staring at the water whining. she is such a water baby! i love it.

**some things evelynn can do at 12 months** -puts hand (or object) up to her ear and says, "he-do" -says "mama", "dada", "he-do" (evelynn speak for hello) -signs "please" -crawls like a manic and is taking tiny steps in between things like the couch and coffee table -attaching herself to stuffed animals; right now its julius the monkey, minnie mouse, and her lady army soldier

my sleeping baby...

so while we have been out in california its been interesting to check on evelynn and see how shes sleeping. here are a few of the times we checked on her and how she was laying...and do not worry your little hearts, we fixed her so that she wouldnt be all cramped when she decided to move.

gah, i just want to eat her up!!!!
